Teaching theater

In the theatre profile, you will develop your imagination, individual creativity and group interaction. The focus is on the joy and desire to tell stories. Collaboration in the group is a prerequisite for conveying a story to an audience together, so many exercises are based on getting to know yourself and training your concentration, responsiveness and trust in others in the group.

Theatre lessons

Theatre lessons start with warm-up exercises to bring focus to the group through various forms of cooperation and concentration exercises. The lessons are then structured with improvisation exercises, voice exercises, character building and rehearsal work with direction based on the script. We work with both props and costumes to enhance an expression. You will also learn basic theatre history and work with the dramaturgical structure of a story.

The voice and the body as tools

In theatre, you use your body and voice to perform and communicate on stage, so much of the teaching in theatre is focused on developing the voice and body as a means of expression. You will learn to use your voice as a means of expression on stage and get to know your body in a conscious way to gain body awareness and train your flexibility. We work with relaxation techniques, physical training and voice exercises to develop a natural use of the voice and body.

Performing arts

An important part of theatre education is the scenic performance that connects the skills of voice and body awareness. Here we work with the structure of the theatre story, such as plot, characters, time and space, and different ways of creating a theatrical story. In performing arts, students learn to use their bodies and voices to express themselves on stage and to portray a character. We practice conveying feelings, thoughts and opinions to an audience and the interaction between different characters. This is done both with improvisation exercises and work based on given text.
